Data privacy and accuracy fears stall AI adoption in business travel: FCM
Data privacy and trust in accuracy are the primary barriers preventing corporate travel managers from expanding AI adoption, according to polls conducted at the annual FCM Singapore Summit.
During the event, which brought together over 100 business travel leaders under the theme Intelligence that Travels, 52 per cent of delegates cited data privacy and security as their main bottleneck to scaling AI. Meanwhile, 47 per cent pointed to concerns over the accuracy of AI-generated insights.

The poll results underscored a strong preference for hybrid service models over full automation during travel emergencies. When asked what delivers the most confidence during urgent travel disruptions, 73 per cent of corporate buyers chose a consultant-led approach supported by background AI, compared to just 23 per cent who preferred autonomous AI recommendations.
In her address, Vicki Parris, managing director of FCM Travel Asia, noted that traditional metrics like cost enforcement and basic policy compliance are no longer sufficient to build operational resilience.
To address privacy and execution concerns, FCM highlighted its focus on integrating AI governance directly into workflows via its platform, Sam. Prabu Sangar, director of technology operations and integrations at FCM Travel Asia, stressed that trust must be built into software design alongside mandatory human oversight.
The summit also featured panel discussions on NDC distribution, duty of care, and crisis management, supported by partners including Singapore Airlines, Accor, Visa, Etihad Airways, and International SOS.
