Melbourne has secured the hosting rights for the ACI Airport Experience Summit 2027, an annual global conference focused on airport customer service, employee experience, and technology.
The event is expected to attract over 800 international aviation executives, customer experience leaders, and technology providers to Victoria, generating an estimated A$5 million (US$3.5 million) for the state’s visitor economy.
The winning bid was led by the Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) alongside Melbourne Airport, with backing from the Victorian State Government and Tourism Australia.
Melbourne Airport – Australia’s busiest 24/7 gateway –is currently undergoing a major infrastructure expansion that includes a new runway, an upgraded international terminal, and enhanced ground transport facilities.
Melbourne Airport’s CEO Lorie Argus noted that the event coincides with the airport’s ongoing growth plans and will provide a platform to share accessibility and digital transformation initiatives with international peers.
Julia Swanson, chief executive of the Melbourne Convention Bureau, also highlighted the summit’s role in elevating the state’s global profile and driving hotel and venue occupancy.
