Shareholders of Caesars Entertainment, which operates eight Las Vegas hotels and casinos plus more than 40 others across the country, approved on September 22 a buyout deal with privately owned Fertitta Entertainment, which owns or operates more than 600 hospitality, dining and entertainment outlets, including Golden Nugget Hotels and Casinos and Landry’s Restaurants.

Valued at $17.6 billion, the deal involves cash paid to Caesars shareholders and an assumption of Caesars debt by Fertitta. Billionaire Tillman Fertitta is the sole owner, CEO and chairman of Fertitta Entertainment, which also has in its portfolio the Houston Rockets pro basketball team plus multiple amusement, entertainment and aquarium venues around the country.

Potential Impact on Caesars Entertainment Offerings

According to hotel-industry media outlet Hotel Dive, existing Golden Nugget properties will eventually be absorbed into the Caesars Rewards network. In addition, Nation’s Restaurant News noted that guests could see a gradual shift in the F&B landscape inside Caesars resorts.

Caesars has multi-year contracts with Gordon Ramsay, Bobby Flay and other well-known names for their iconic onsite restaurants. But future vacancies at restaurant spaces within Caesars properties could be filled by Landry’s brands such as Morton’s The Steakhouse, Mastro’s Steakhouse, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, Vic & Anthony’s, Landry’s Seafood House, McCormick & Schmick’s and others.

Further, government regulators are expected to decide before the deal’s closing in June 2027 whether Fertitta must sell some casino properties to reduce its concentration in Las Vegas as well in Atlantic City, where it now owns four of the nine casinos (Golden Nugget, Caesars, Harrah’s and Tropicana), and in Laughlin, Reno, and Lake Tahoe.
