路易斯安那州债券委员会批准6亿美元融资方案,新奥尔良会展中心Omni总部酒店将启动建设

With New Finance Deal, Omni HQ Hotel at New Orleans’ C.C. Set for Buildout

After much public debate in New Orleans over how a planned Omni headquarters hotel at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center would be financed, the Louisiana Bond Commission approved on September 17 a revised $600 million financing package for the property.

The deal puts more of a financial onus on the convention center rather than the general public for the hotel’s construction, and allows work to begin right away so that the property can debut in 2030 and potentially help the city convince the National Football League to hold the 2031 Super Bowl in New Orleans.

Set on a parcel of land directly across the street from the Morial Convention Center, the 1,000-plus-room Omni will have 100,000 square feet of meeting space of its own, including a ballroom that’s likely to be the largest in the city. Further, the property will feature a rooftop pool deck spanning roughly 15,000 square feet on level 7, with sweeping views of the city and the Mississippi River.

Walt Leger III, president and CEO of New Orleans & Co., said that the “State Bond Commission approval of the Omni headquarters hotel development is an important step forward for New Orleans and for Louisiana’s economy. … Meeting planners have consistently told us that a headquarters hotel is an important piece of the infrastructure New Orleans needs to remain a leading destination for meetings, conventions and events.

"Cities across the country continue to invest aggressively in their convention districts, hotels and visitor infrastructure, and this project will strengthen New Orleans’ ability to compete.”
