CINCINNATI — Ohio is ranked ninth among the 10 states projected to experience the fastest growth in franchise establishments, joining Michigan and Utah as newcomers to the top 10, according to the International Franchise Association’s 2026 Franchising Economic Outlook.

The study found that Ohio has approximately 30,000 franchise establishments and more than 300,000 employees, and generates $33 billion in annual revenue.

The timing of the inaugural Franchise Expo Cincinnati could not be better.

“Suffice to say, we believe there are plenty of motivated entrepreneurs behind those numbers,” Martin Joksimovic, President at MFV Expositions, the show’s organizer, said. “We pay close attention to market factors when choosing a particular location. While some people may think Cincinnati is an interesting choice, a look at the facts proves that this location is every bit as important as the other expos we’ve hosted this year in New York City, Dallas and soon, Glendale, Ariz.”

On Oct. 23-24, 2026, Franchise Expo Cincinnati is expected to attract 80 brands and 2,000 attendees to the First Financial Center, which recently underwent a $264-million makeover that included two new outdoor event spaces, a rooftop terrace and a 2.5-acre park at the building’s entrance, as well as wider concourses to improve the flow of traffic. The three-level building has 750,000 square feet, nearly 200,000 of which is dedicated exhibition space.

“These renovations have helped First Financial Center become a world-class showplace for Franchise Expo Cincinnati,” Joksimovic said. “Our exhibitors and attendees will absolutely love the venue we selected.”

Exhibitors will span a range of industries, from printing to food and beverage to childcare, and include major players like McDonald’s, GNC and Gold’s Gym. There will also be an Emerging Brands Pavilion featuring franchise brands that are interested in growing in the Cincinnati area.

Joksimovic is especially excited about this year’s education, which includes more than 12 different workshops and seminars covering marketing, sales, strategy and more.

“Based on the feedback we’ve gotten from shows we’ve completed this year, two recurring presentations in particular have generated a lot of interest from attendees: ‘The A to Z’s of Buying a Franchise’ and ‘Franchising Your Business,’” Joksimovic said.

Admission is free for attendees interested in franchising.
