The Victorian Convention and Event Trust (VCET) has named Paul Kanaan as acting general manager of the Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre, effective Monday, October 19.
Kanaan, currently head of F&B at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre , brings over 20 years of venue management and major event experience to the role. His track record includes overseeing operations for the 2024 ASEAN-Australia Special Summit and the 20th International AIDS Conference.
He succeeds outgoing general manager Rick Aylett, who departs the organisation on October 16.
VCET chief operations officer Lauren Milsop said Kanaan’s appointment ensures leadership stability and continuity during the venue’s first full year of operation. VCET plans to conduct a search for a permanent general manager next year.
