Geneva has been selected to host the 80th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) from 8 to 12 October 2029. More than 10,000 participants from the global space sector are expected at Palexpo.
Geneva Tourism & Convention published the first edition of a series of educative resources for event and conference organisers.
The decision follows a joint Swiss bid involving national and regional institutions, research organisations and industry partners. Geneva Convention Bureau supported the destination’s role in the bid, working with local and national stakeholders to present Geneva to the international space community. The 2029 congress will mark the 80th edition of the annual event and take place 60 years after the Apollo 11 Moon landing.
International Astronautical Congress 2029 to Bring Over 10,000 Participants to Geneva
The congress will bring together representatives from space agencies, companies, research institutions, governments and academia at Palexpo to discuss developments in space exploration and related activities. It will also provide a platform for the proposed Geneva Initiative for Space Diplomacy, which aims to strengthen links between the international space sector and Geneva’s diplomatic community. The event will take place under the theme “Celebrating Space, Building Trust”. On the final day, the exhibition will also open to the wider public.
