BALTIMORE, MD - Visit Baltimore, the official destination sales and marketing organization for the city of Baltimore, is celebrating another year of major achievements for tourism, hospitality and our community. Visit Baltimore held its annual meeting on Thursday, October 1 at the Baltimore Museum of Industry, marking these accomplishments with more than 300 industry partners, elected officials and local stakeholders.
TOURISM IMPACT
During the annual meeting, Visit Baltimore reported Longwoods International data that showed the city welcomed more than 28.7 million visitors in 2025, generating more than $4.3 billion for the economy. You can find more impact data and insights in the latest annual report.
“We do this work for our community, both friends and neighbors who rely on the hospitality industry for their livelihood and those who don't realize how much tourism touches their lives,” said Kireeem Swinton, President and CEO of Visit Baltimore. “The data shows our people, our events and our culture are powerful economic drivers, and when we uplift those experiences that only exist here in Baltimore, everyone wins.”
“From historic progress on generational challenges like vacants and public safety to exciting projects like Harborplace, Baltimore’s Renaissance is here,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. “We want to make sure visitors and residents see and feel the benefits of these investments firsthand, and Visit Baltimore plays a critical role in that work. Tourism fills our hotels, supports local businesses, adds to our general fund, and helps us share the best of Charm City with the world. I'm grateful to Visit Baltimore for their partnership and look forward to bringing even more new faces to our city in the coming years.”
Among the accomplishments shared, the Visit Baltimore team booked 36 citywide events and more than 200,000 room nights throughout Fiscal Year 2026 (FY2026). Marketing efforts resulted in more than 300 million impressions, which included a commercial that aired during multiple national primetime broadcasts of “Abbott Elementary.” The organization took home five 2025 Adrian Awards from the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International and was named one of The Baltimore Sun’s Top Workplaces of 2025.
Throughout the program, attendees heard from Visit Baltimore leadership and government representatives, including an introduction from Otis Rolley, President and CEO of the Baltimore Development Corporation and Chairman of the Baltimore Convention and Tourism Board of Directors, along with video messages from Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott, Baltimore City Council President Zeke Cohen, and Baltimore Councilman Zac Blanchard.
“We are celebrating new leadership at Visit Baltimore, Baltimore Development Corporation and other key organizations throughout the city,” said Otis Rolley, President and CEO of the Baltimore Development Corporate and Baltimore Convention and Tourism Board Chairman. “This provides an opportunity for unprecedented alignment and impact across tourism and economic development.”
THE B-SIDE OF BALTIMORE
This year’s annual meeting was centered around the B-Side of Baltimore, a local pride campaign designed by and for the community. Inspired by Baltimore’s musical roots and the resurgence of vinyl, the B-Side invites everyone to “flip the record” on the misperceptions playing on repeat and uncover deeper, richer stories of the city.
“We know about half of our visitors come to Baltimore to see friends and family,” Swinton said. “If those residents don’t have positive things to say about the city, they’re more likely to reinforce damaging misconceptions or inaccurate stereotypes. The B-Side reflects the energy and authenticity of our community and brings that to the forefront. We greatly appreciate Mayor Scott and his administration for recognizing the value of this effort and providing American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to make it happen."
HONORING INDUSTRY CHAMPIONS
This year’s Visit Baltimore Tourism Awards were presented by Tracey Omogbehin, general manager of the Hyatt Regency Inner Harbor and member of the Baltimore Convention and Tourism Board.
- The Charm City Champion was presented to Chris Riehl, owner of Rent-a-Tour. Along with taking on numerous leadership roles in state tourism, Riehl has introduced thousands of visitors to the people, places and stories that make Baltimore unique.
- The Bridge Award was presented to John Tyler, founder of Love Groove Productions. A native Baltimorean and Emmy Award-winning composer, Tyler has spent the past decade creating spaces for the city’s music, arts and creative communities.
- The William Donald Shaefer Visionary Tourism Award was presented to Asma Naeem, the Dorothy Wagner Wallis Director of the Baltimore Museum of Art. Naeem is the first person of color and the first Baltimorean to lead the Baltimore Museum of Art, ushering in a new era centered on innovation, collaboration and service to the community. Her leadership in bringing the nationally acclaimed Amy Sherald: American Sublime exhibition to Baltimore resulted in record-breaking attendance and worldwide attention to our vibrant arts and culture scene.
