Industry stalwart Keith Wootton is founder of FSTVL GRP, the group behind AV1, Sprintr and All Things All Creatures, and he has signed the lease on new studio and events space INTERLUDE in Alexandria, Sydney.

Located at 23 McCauley Street, INTERLUDE is a passion project for Keith, and “it is intended to sit in the space between a boardroom and a ballroom”.

The main room is a flexible white box that is 14.5 metres by 7.9 metres with a 5.7-metre ceiling, with an arrival space for guests and an exterior courtyard.

Wootton says the idea draws on his early career working with artists at The Factory, a creative hub in Dublin.

The intention is for commercial bookings to fuel the space’s use by artists and creatives, meaning clients and creators share the room.

Wootton says the concept is relevant given the current trend towards smaller, intimate community gatherings, and INTERLUDE can serve as an events venue, studio, gallery or space for creative development.

“I have spent more than 30 years in the events industry, and I kept coming back to this idea of a space that was neither a ballroom nor a boardroom,” says Wootton.

“INTERLUDE is the space between, and clients are welcome, collaborators are encouraged, and I would love to know what you would do in the space.”

INTERLUDE will hold informal previews for invited guests in mid-November.
