PRAGUE'S FEATURES
Natural and cultural factors
Prague wears its cultural pedigree with an assurance few capitals can muster. Gothic silhouettes, sumptuous Baroque interiors, and the geometric precision of Czech Cubism coexist in a cityscape that rewards even the most aimless wanderer. Its selection as the Arts & Culture winner in Air Canada Vacations’ 2026 Travellers’ Top Picks further recognises an appeal that transcends its postcard views. Recently, contemporary creativity has reclaimed former ecclesiastical spaces and industrial buildings. For event organisers, this abundance provides a particularly fertile setting, where the accompanying programme can carry as much intellectual and aesthetic weight as the conference itself. At the Exhibition Grounds, Stromovka’s proximity lets the monumental Industrial Palace converse with a gentler, greener Prague. This interplay between built heritage and open space is one of the destination’s quieter assets, giving organisers opportunities to extend events beyond the confines of a hall.
General and transport infrastructure
Behind Prague’s romantic façades lies the practical machinery of a thoroughly connected capital. Václav Havel Airport handled almost 17.8 million passengers in 2025, with 84 airlines linking the city to 194 destinations. Its announced 2026 network includes 195 destinations served by 85 carriers. The addition of American Airlines’ daily Philadelphia service further strengthens its transatlantic reach, an asset for congresses drawing delegates from beyond Europe.
Across the city, trams offer practical transport and a privileged vantage point from which to observe Prague’s changing architectural vocabulary. For organisers, the combination of airport connections and extensive public transport provides a sound foundation for programmes spread across several venues.
Tourist infrastructure
In April 2026, Prague City Tourism and Prague Castle Administration formalised a partnership to improve visitor services at the capital’s most prominent heritage complex. The initiative will be underpinned by uniform service standards, systematic staff training, and regular mystery shopping, supported by analysis of visitor feedback. The scale is considerable: Prague Castle welcomed more than eight million visitors in 2025, of whom 2.6 million completed the official visitor circuit.
Prague City Tourism’s emphasis on culturally minded travellers and higher service standards therefore complements the needs of the events industry. The city’s considerable inheritance may secure attention, but the quality of its hospitality will determine how convincingly that attention becomes a lasting relationship.
Meetings infrastructure
Prague is adding a contemporary chapter to its congress architecture while restoring one of its most illustrious originals. At Prague Congress Centre, building a new exhibition hall represents an investment of about CZK 1.35 billion. Designed by Barcelona’s OCA Architects in collaboration with CMC Architects, the elongated structure will provide 5,000 m² of net exhibition space, divisible into five independent sections. Its integration with the existing complex will let organisers bring congress sessions, exhibitions, and social functions together on one campus, including gala dinners for 1,500 guests. The venue currently promotes the new hall for events from 2029, with the project targeting LEED Gold certification.
Elsewhere, the restored Industrial Palace offers a different scale. Its 11,000 m² comprises a central hall, two wings and entrance facilities, with the rebuilt left wing alone accommodating up to 3,600 participants in theatre style or 2,000 for a gala dinner. The central hall seats 1,750 delegates beneath its restored decorative features. Its return broadens Prague’s repertoire with a setting whose visual identity is inseparable from the city itself.
Marketing buzz
“Unconventional Conventions” is an apt motto for a city that takes pride in a slew of unusual venues. The proposition rests on a proven track record. Prague ranked sixth in the latest ICCA city ranking reported by the convention bureau and hosted more than 5,000 events attended by over 850,000 delegates in 2025. More than fifty gatherings drew more than 1,000 participants, while events for 50 to 500 delegates saw the strongest growth. This breadth suggests a destination equally comfortable hosting large international congresses and more intimate professional encounters.
