Gasification India 2026 to Spotlight Coal and Lignite Value Addition in New Delhi
The 17th edition of Gasification India 2026 will take place on 22–23 October at The Lalit, New Delhi, bringing together policymakers, coal producers, technology providers, project developers, researchers and investors to discuss the advancement of coal and lignite gasification in India.
Organised by Mission Energy Foundation, the conference will focus on the role of gasification in converting domestic coal and lignite resources into higher-value industrial products, including methanol, ammonia, hydrogen, synthetic natural gas and downstream chemicals. The technology is attracting attention as India explores ways to strengthen domestic resource utilisation, develop new industrial value chains and reduce dependence on imported feedstocks.
Technology, Policy and Project Development in Focus
The conference will provide a platform for discussions on policy support, commercial-scale project implementation, technology development and investment opportunities across the gasification value chain.
Key themes include:
- Industrial value addition: Converting coal and lignite into chemicals, fuels and other industrial products.
- Technology and project development: Exploring gasification technologies and pathways towards commercial deployment.
- Research and innovation: Connecting academic research with industrial applications and policy priorities.
- Industry collaboration: Bringing together government representatives, technology providers, project developers and investors.
According to the event organiser, the conference is expected to feature more than 250 industry leaders and 60 expert speakers, alongside over 10 knowledge sessions. These figures are pre-event projections.
Research Competition to Encourage Innovation
The event will also host the National Paper Presentation and Research Award Competition, organised under Gasification India 2026. Open to B.Tech and M.Tech students, research scholars and faculty members, the initiative aims to encourage research with potential applications in gasification technology and industrial development.
The selected papers are scheduled for recognition during a session on research, innovation and commercialisation on 23 October.
By bringing policy discussions, technical expertise and research together, Gasification India 2026 aims to support collaboration across India’s gasification ecosystem as the country explores new applications for its coal and lignite resources.
