台北市下调商务活动补贴门槛至三国参会标准
Taipei lowers subvention barriers to entice more business events
The Department of Information and Tourism of Taipei City Government has lowered the eligibility barriers for business events subventions, seeking to capture a broader range of international gatherings while capitalising on the city’s status as a global technology hub.
Under the revised requirements, foreign event organisers with business events in Taipei can now qualify for municipal subsidies with international delegates from as few as three countries, down from the previous threshold of five.

“We have established our one-stop MICE services for a long time, but we recently lowered the entry barriers for our subsidy programmes,” Chuen-Huey Jiang, senior executive officer at the Taipei Department of Information and Tourism, shared with TTGmice. “It is increasingly difficult for organisers to bring in participants from five different countries, so lowering the requirement to three allows us to invite more business events and incentive groups to Taipei.”
To qualify for the subvention, planners must include at least two nights’ stay within the capital. Local municipal funding can also be stacked with central government subventions, enabling city officials to support itineraries that extend into other parts of Taiwan while maximising the economic spillover across the broader economy.
This move coincides with Taipei’s rising profile in the global artificial intelligence sector, anchored by tech giants such as Nvidia establishing its headquarters in the city. In addition, large-scale flagship tradeshows like Computex have grown to become financially self-sufficient, requiring only administrative assistance rather than financial grants. This independence has freed up subvention funds to be reallocated towards nurturing emerging sectors and supporting smaller event profiles across the business events landscape.
“With rapid developments in IT and major companies like Nvidia building headquarters in Taipei, we expect to attract far more tech-related conferences,” said Jiang. “Computex, which we have provided subventions for over many years, no longer requires our direct financial support, so those funds can now be used to nurture other industries.”
Currently, Taipei ranks 23rd globally and fifth in Asia-Pacific for international association meetings. City officials have set their sights on cracking become one of Asia-Pacific’s top three destinations for business events, actively pursuing growth in new longhaul source markets across Europe, such as Italy, alongside its core Asia-Pacific base.
