Lake Garda is typically thought of as a summer escape, but this year, Grand Hotel Fasano is making a strong case for visiting during the "off-season." For the first time in the hotel’s history, the historical lakeside retreat will remain open beyond its traditional early-November close, welcoming guests for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s through January 6. Grand Hotel Fasano will transform into a festive village, with a daily lakefront Christmas market featuring mulled wine, panettone, local cheeses and artisans, plus tastings with Garda wine, olive oil, and food producers.

CALGARY: The biggest event of the year for Alberta moviegoers is back. The Calgary International Film Festival, presented by Servus Credit Union, is bringing the year’s most acclaimed and talked-about films—from Cannes and other leading film festivals around the world—to Calgary audiences now through Oct. 4.

EDMONTON: Rubaboo Arts Festival is taking place now through Oct. 11. The event is a multi-disciplinary arts festival celebrating the depth and vibrancy of artistic expression, from theatre and music to dance, visual art, food, and hands-on workshops. Rubaboo is where new works come to life, offering audiences a rare chance to experience artistic creations as they take shape.

OTTAWA: Ottawa Tourism, La Tablée des Chefs, and 23 hospitality partners are celebrating a major milestone as the À la Carte Food Recovery Program surpasses 500,000 meals recovered and redistributed to people experiencing food insecurity in the community. Launched in May 2024, À la Carte is the first destination-led food recovery program of its kind in Canada. Through collaboration across Ottawa's hospitality sector, the program recovers surplus food from hotels, venues, caterers, and events, redirecting it to community organizations rather than allowing it to go to waste.
