h+h americas Fall Edition 首届在休斯敦 Reliant Center 举办,净面积超销售目标 9%
What h+h americas Fall Edition Can Teach Organizers
Koelnmesse Inc. 于 2026 年在休斯敦 Reliant Center 推出 h+h americas Fall Edition,净销售面积 44,215 平方英尺,超出计划 40,580 平方英尺约 9%。
HOUSTON — In 2026, Koelnmesse Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Koelnmesse GmbH, launched h+h americas Fall Edition at the Reliant Center. This textile show is an extension of h+h americas, which takes place every spring in Rosemont, Ill., and is an extension of Koelnmesse GmbH’s original h+h cologne.
It was designed as a strategic follow-up to h+h americas, keeping conversations and orders moving, relationships warm and business progressing throughout the year.
Darrin Stern, President and Managing Director, Koelnmesse Inc., explained that this launch surpassed expectations: The organization budgeted 40,580 net square feet and sold 44,215, which is about 9% over target.

Total attendance reached 2,005, with attendees from 47 states and 19 countries. The show reported 256 exhibitors, 38 of them international.
“Two numbers matter most to me. First, 70% of buyers were new to h+h americas, so we grew the market rather than splitting our spring audience,” Stern said. “Second, buyers came to buy. In our post-show survey, 72% of attendees placed orders at the show, and among brick-and-mortar retailers it was 53 out of 56. Exhibitors and attendees both rated the show 4 out of 5, and nearly eight in 10 would recommend it to a colleague.”
Trade Show Executive (TSE) spotlighted how Koelnmesse Inc. marketed and supported this launch, and got advice for organizers who want to expand their own shows to a new region.
Starting with the Market — Not a Media Plan
“We started with the market, not a media plan,” Stern said. “Retailers and brands told us one annual touchpoint was not enough, so our first job was getting founding partners to say that publicly. When we announced the show in December 2025, Moda, Janome, Windham, Riley Blake, Andover, Universal Yarn, Mook Fabrics and others were already committed, and their own words carried the launch.”
Key wins in the show’s marketing efforts included:
- Partners as messengers. Exhibitor invitations were one of the top three ways attendees heard about the show, alongside past attendance and email marketing. Partner-led marketing outperformed social media by a wide margin.
- Education as a reason to travel. Koelnmesse Inc.’s partnership with Craft Industry Alliance gave shop owners a business case to attend, beyond buying.
- A Houston story. The show leaned into the city’s deep craft heritage rather than treating it as a generic venue.
- A clear identity. h+h Fall Edition’s dedicated brand built on one line: “Spring inspires. Fall delivers.”
- A digital front door. Most survey respondents used the show app to plan meetings, find exhibitors and capture leads.
“We see spring and fall as two chapters of the same story,” Stern said. “Spring in Rosemont is the flagship: the largest gathering, global sourcing and trend discovery. Fall in Houston is the follow-through: in-season reorders, holiday and first-quarter buying, and a tighter, more efficient format.”

Quality Over Quantity

The show was built on one rule: If something does not add value, it does not make the cut.
This led to a compact schedule — it opened with a Wednesday evening Launch Party and had two focused selling days, so shop owners could get home for weekend business.
h+h americas Fall Edition featured curated product showcases, education designed for business owners and room for real conversations.
Attendees rated how well exhibitors matched what they came to find at 4.2 out of 5, and education was its highest-rated program, with the keynote, Business Classes and Main Stage averaging 4.3 or higher.
Stern was surprised most by how hungry the audience was.
“Sample It, our product sampling event, drew so much demand that it outgrew its room within minutes,” Stern said. “That is a good problem, and we will give it far more space next year. I was also struck that first-time attendees rated the show higher than our returning visitors, 4.2 versus 3.8. That tells me the fall edition is finding its own audience, not borrowing spring’s. When we asked attendees for their favorite moment, the most common answer was simply meeting vendors, designers and fellow shop owners face to face. In a digital world, that is still what a trade show is for.”
Best Practices for Organizers
For organizers who want to extend a show to a different region, Stern had this advice:
- Let demand decide, not ambition. Launch because the market is asking, and get that ask on record from customers.
- Make it a complement, not a copy. Give the new show its own job. h+h americas Fall Edition is follow-through, not a smaller spring show.
- Recruit founding partners before launch. Their voices give you credibility you cannot buy, and securing them early is a big reason Koelnmesse Inc. closed 9% above its space plan in year one.
- Design around your customer’s calendar. The show’s compact schedule was a deliberate choice for shop owners.
- Measure whether you are growing the market. New-to-show buyers is the number that tells you that.
- Ask fast and act visibly. Survey while the experience is fresh, share what you heard and show people what changed.
Looking Ahead

“Feedback is built into how we work,” Stern said. “The show exists because retailers and brands asked for a second touchpoint. Founding exhibitors helped shape the timing, and we hold a monthly Exhibitor Roundtable to keep that dialogue going. Within two weeks of closing, 144 exhibitors and attendees had completed our post-show survey, and we are already using it to set 2027 priorities, from category recruitment to how we run our most popular programs.”
For 2027, Koelnmesse Inc. will:
- Give Sample It the space it deserves. The experience will have a much larger room, managed access and a better flow, so every buyer gets a fair shot.
- Make the venue easier to navigate. There will be clearer wayfinding from every entrance, more frequent shuttles covering all official hotels, food service from the first hour and parking details published well before the show.
- Recruit to the gaps. Buyers asked for more yarn, fiber, notions and garment sewing suppliers, and the show is targeting those categories now.
- Protect the floor for professionals. It will have tighter buyer credentialing so exhibitors spend their time with qualified retailers.
Next year, h+h americas Fall Edition will take place Oct. 27-29 at the Reliant Center, right after the new Fiber+Fabric Craft Festival Houston, which is set for Oct. 22-24.
“We are building momentum, not pressure,” Stern said. “Our goal is to grow carefully without losing what made the format work, and to keep shaping the show alongside the community that asked for it. Spring inspires. Fall delivers. Together, they keep the creative supply chain moving all year.”
